After PRINCE2 Foundation Training

The PRINCE2 Foundation certificate is the basic qualification in PRINCE2 project management, a de-facto standard used throughout the UK public sector, and recognized in the private sector, both in the UK and abroad. Individuals aspiring to work on project teams are advised to attend PRINCE2 Foundation training in order to gain a fundamental understanding of how this best-practice methodology works. But what comes after PRINCE2 Foundation?

The PRINCE2 Practitioner Certificate

PRINCE2 Practitioner training is suitable for individuals who already have the PRINCE2 Foundation certificate, and wish to deepen their understanding of how the methodology is applied to project scenarios, and to make their CV stand out in terms of project management qualifications.

Candidates who already have the PRINCE2 Foundation certificate attend a short training course in preparation for the PRINCE2 Practitioner examination, during which they can revise the PRINCE2 methodology, and learn how it functions in various situations and environments.

The PRINCE2 Practitioner examination is, like the Foundation exam, a multiple-choice paper. It consists of nine complex questions, and candidates have two and a half hours to complete it. PRINCE2 Practitioner exam candidates may refer to the official PRINCE2 manual during the exam.

Once a candidate has successfully passed the PRINCE2 Practitioner examination, they are able to include “PRINCE2 Practitioner” on their business card, and are eligible to be listed as Registered Practitioners in the Successful Candidate Register. This is an essential means for employers to ascertain the project management credentials of job candidates.

PRINCE2 PRACTITIONER RE-REGISTRATION

It is important to be aware that PRINCE2 Practitioner certification has a limited life span, and must be renewed within five years through the PRINCE2 Practitioner Re-registration exam. Individuals who do not pass this examination within five years are no longer Registered PRINCE2 Practitioners.

PRINCE2 PROFESSIONAL

The newest PRINCE2 qualification is PRINCE2 Professional, which provides rigorous training and assessment of experienced project managers, with the goal of honing their ability to apply PRINCE2 techniques to actual projects, as well as provide formal acknowledgement their project management expertise.
