The Benefits of PRINCE2 Agile
PRINCE2® remains one of the most widely recognized and respected project management certifications. With the growing popularity of Agile however, AXELOS – owner and developer of the PRINCE2 method – sought to bridge the gap between ‘traditional’ project management and contemporary agile methods.
PRINCE2 Agile is not a ‘true’ agile methodology. Rather, it seeks to maintain the high- and mid-level governance of the PRINCE2 method and combine this with the flexibility and responsiveness of an agile approach.
PRINCE2 Agile could be described as the ‘best of both worlds.’ It’s ideal for project managers already trained in PRINCE2 who wish to incorporate agile tools and methods into their management strategy. It’s also a great choice for those new to the profession who aren’t entirely sure where their focus should lie and want to obtain an ‘all-round’ qualification and make themselves marketable to a wide range of employers.

Here are just a few reasons why you should consider investing in a PRINCE2 Agile qualification.
It’s a good introduction to agile methods
For those already trained in PRINCE2, PRINCE2 Agile is a great way to begin introducing agile techniques without completely restructuring and reorganizing your approach to project management.
There are no prerequisites for the Foundation course, and if you are already have PRINCE2 Foundation you can skip the PRINCE2 Agile Foundation course and begin studying for your PRINCE2 Agile Practitioner qualification immediately. For those new to PRINCE2, the PRINCE2 Agile Foundation course covers the basics of PRINCE2 as well as agile methods.
It focuses on projects and products
Agile approaches generally focus only on the end-product. They’re great for ensuring that you get the most value out of your products at the delivery level. However, most agile methodologies offer very little advice on how to structure projects to aid management of the project itself beyond some rudimentary procedures and protocols.
PRINCE2 Agile helps ensure that your projects adhere to the overall objectives of your business, ensuring that projects always serve a great purpose than simply delivering a product to customers. PRINCE2 Agile also retains many of the features of traditional PRINCE2 but contains guidance specifically aimed at project managers managing agile projects.
Better returns on investment
The main feature of PRINCE2 Agile, like other agile methodologies, is its’ incremental product delivery.
Unlike traditional project management methods where the end-product is often only delivered at the very end of production, PRINCE2 Agile allows you to start benefiting from the value of your product early in the development life cycle.
It is adaptable
As it is based on the PRINCE2 framework, PRINCE2 Agile can be tailored to suit projects of any size, in any industry. In addition, PRINCE2 Agile can be used to complement all other established agile approaches making it a great addition to your repertoire of skills (and your CV!).
It is already widely used
PRINCE2 Agile greatly benefits from the widespread use and popularity of the PRINCE2 method. Whether you’re currently employed in a role that uses the PRINCE2 method, or if you’re looking for an agile qualification that will improve your marketability as a project manager, the popularity of PRINCE2 and PRINCE2 Agile make it a great choice for dedicated project management professionals.
PRINCE2 Agile training will teach you everything you need to get started
While it may be tempting to try incorporate agile tools and ‘light’ agile methods into your projects without training, you’ll likely find that the different approaches often conflict, having a detrimental effect on projects.
With PRINCE2 Agile training, you’ll learn how to get the best out of both approaches with little to no conflict. You’ll also learn how to selectively choose which strategies and methods to employ based on economic, work and project environments.
